‘Whole club moving forward’ – Moyes issues contract update on West Ham stars
West Ham won’t be offering any of their players new contracts until 2021 in a bid to maintain the good run of form the Hammers are currently on, according to David Moyes.
Michail Antonio, Mark Noble and Fabian Balbuena are out of contract at the end of the season and Hammers fans will be concerned that they could leave the London Stadium for nothing.
But Moyes has claimed that he is waiting for the club to be in a ‘good strong position’ before starting contract talks with any of his players.
Moyes is quoted by the Evening Standard as saying, “We’ve not been bothered too much with the contracts, we’ve been trying to get the whole club moving forward.
“We’ll get around the players when we think it’s the right time. So we’re focusing on the team and the games at the moment.
“There are several players we will need to look to probably going into the new year sometime. We try to avoid it at the moment and we’ll look at it once we get in a good strong position.”
The Irons could move up to fifth in the Premier League with a win over Aston Villa on Monday night as they look to continue their remarkable league form.
The Hammers have only lost three of their opening nine games and this season’s unpredictable results mean they currently sit in the bottom half of the table.
But, they could rise into the European places with another three points as there are nine clubs currently sat between 14 and 17 points in the league with the Hammers on 14 points with Leeds United and Newcastle.
The future of Michail Antonio will be the priority for West Ham fans as he is arguably the club’s most important player.
The 30-year-old could start against the Villains on Monday after returning from injury and he will look to add to his three league goals this season and prove he is worth a new deal.
In other West Ham news, Frank McAvennie has urged Declan Rice to make a decision on his Hammers future.
