West Ham ‘would be mad’ to sell star according to Steve McManaman

West Ham United’s star player, Jarrod Bowen, has been touted to leave the London Stadium for a move to Liverpool but a former Red believes it won’t happen

The 25-year-old has been one of the Premier League’s standout players so far this season and his form is a large reason for the Hammers’ great campaign to this point, but it is also attracting interest from elsewhere.

Liverpool are the club most intrigued by Bowen as The Athletic reported that he is still being monitored by the Merseyside club who are hoping to find their eventual Mohamed Salah replacement.

Former Liverpool star Steve McManaman however thinks West Ham should keep hold of the Englishman given how his value has skyrocketed this year.

“He’s been great. They bought him from Hull City for £20 million, which seemed a lot at the time, but he’s been great and continued to improve,” McManaman said on horseracing.net.

“West Ham would be mad to get rid of him because they’re starting to build something themselves and he’s probably now worth double or maybe triple what they paid for him.”

Do whatever is required

West Ham cannot afford to lose Bowen this month, no matter the price, no matter the club.

If the Irons have any aspirations of European football again next season, they need Bowen at the London Stadium, helping drive them towards another top-six finish in the league.

When the summer rolls around, then maybe you can listen to offers if they are at the very least triple the £20million they paid for him from Hull City.

His worth to the club now though is priceless and any offer that may come in should be met with a swift decline as a statement of intent.

Bowen may want to leave and you can’t blame him if he has ambitions of representing England and winning plenty of trophies in his career, but you can’t imagine that he would kick up a fuss if his big move is delayed by six months.

In other West Ham news, this Hammers-linked star must be sold this month, according to reports.
