West Ham United Women’s expert Michelle Irons was wowed by captain Dagný Brynjarsdóttir after her performance against Aston Villa in the FA Cup.
Brynjarsdóttir scored a stoppage-time equaliser against the Villans to send the tie to penalties. However, the Hammers narrowly crashed out losing 7-6.
Despite the cup exit, Irons has been massively impressed with the 31-year-old who was named captain at the start of the season by Paul Konchesky.
“What a season Dagny is having, she has taken her new captaincy role to a new level,” Irons exclusively told West Ham Zone.
“She is such a reliable player she hardly ever makes mistakes or gets petty bookings. She is always unmarked in the box to slot home and has scored some important goals this season.”

The Icelandic international is currently the fifth-highest scorer in the Women’s Super League with five goals and has been a prolific option from the centre of midfield.
Konchesky will be disappointed to have seen his side exit the cup, particularly with the Hammers nestled firmly in mid-table with nothing to play for.
Next up for West Ham is a favourable league fixture against struggling Reading. The Royals are currently second bottom of the league standings with just seven points to their name. Another fixture against Aston Villa and a trip to face Manchester United then face Konchesky’s side.
