West Ham Women's expert wants Paul Konchesky tactical change when 'practically possible'

We’re delighted to welcome Michelle Irons as our exclusive West Ham Women expert. Each week she’ll be giving her views on the biggest talking points at Victoria Road…

West Ham Women’s expert Michelle Irons would like Paul Konchesky to start Dagný Brynjarsdóttir and Lucy Parker in a midfield partnership.

Brynjarsdóttir has been missing with an illness in recent weeks which has seen Parker given the opportunity by the West Ham boss.

It’s a partnership Irons would like to see implemented as soon as “practically possible” with the Hammers enduring a tricky Women’s Super League run at present.

“One change from that game in came with Lisa Evans coming in for Kate Longhurst, Dagny was unfortunately still unwell,” Irons exclusively told West Ham Zone.

“Lucy Parker was to continue in her newly adapted position of Defensive Midfield. I’d like to see Dagny and Parker play there together as soon as practically possible.”

The Irons are now on a three-game losing streak and haven’t won in the Women’s Super League since 11 December. Konchesky’s side now sit seventh in the league standings and have fallen closer to the bottom four sides after their recent poor form.

Up next for the Hammers is a daunting trip to face Manchester United, who are currently flying high towards the top end of the table. Konchesky will be desperate to get his side back to winning ways as the season edges closer to its conclusion.

The threat of relegation should be avoided, but it would be disappointing if West Ham let their season fizzle out into nothing.
