West Ham Women's expert in awe of Lisa Evans impact in Tottenham win
We’re delighted to welcome Michelle Irons as our exclusive West Ham Women expert. Each week she’ll be giving her views on the biggest talking points at Victoria Road…
West Ham United Women expert Michelle Irons was impressed with Lisa Evans’ “instant” impact as Paul Konchesky’s side beat Tottenham in the WSL.
Second-half goals from Hawa Cissoko and Dagný Brynjarsdóttir were enough for the Hammers to secure a 2-0 victory and move them up to fifth in the league standings.
Irons was particularly impressed with the introduction of Evans who had an immediate impact after being subbed on in the second half.
“Paul Konchesky made one significant change during the game with Lisa Evans replacing Hayashi, unfortunately, this game was not kind to Honoka she had no positive impact. She tried to get forward and create but was overwhelmed in midfield,” Irons exclusively told West Ham Zone.
“You could see a clear reaction to Lisa coming into the fray she lit up the game she is a delightful footballer and an excellent character.

“It was an almost instant impact from Evans as she snatched the ball in Tottenham’s half, completing a cheeky nutmeg, drove into the box and passed to Asseyi who was crowded and unbelievably managed to attempt an audacious overhead kick.
“The deflected shot fell perfectly for Dagny to finish expertly.
“West Ham with an almost perfect second half and three massive points which takes us up to 5th in the league. A fantastic performance from all of the players and a brilliant end to 2022.”
Konchesky’s side now face an extended break until their next Women’s Super League game against fourth-placed Manchester City on 15 January.
