West Ham United Women expert Michelle Irons wants Paul Konchesky’s side to fly out of the blocks in their WSL opener at Victoria Road on Sunday.
The Hammers get their league campaign underway against Everton after seeing their season opener against Chelsea postponed.
Irons feels it is a good chance for the Hammers to really start fast with a new manager, captain and focus compared to the 2021/22 season.
Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, she said: “Our first game is now at home to Everton after our away fixture at Chelsea was postponed due to events out of our control.
“I’d like to see us really come out of the blocks in this one and get the best start possible. We have a new Gaffer, a new captain and a new focus to better our finishing position last year of sixth.

“Our attacking threat will inevitably change now and I’d like to see Lisa Evans have the same chemistry with Hayashi as she did with Yui. We have a good aerial threat with Dagny and Stringer and some really pacy wingers in Kyvag and Izzy Atkinson.”
The Hammers head into their season opener off the back of losing attacker Yui Hasegawa to Manchester City on 8 September, a decision that shocked our West Ham Women expert Irons.
It’s understood that West Ham received a six-figure fee plus add-ons for the Japan international, who moves to Manchester after Keira Walsh’s record transfer to Barcelona.
