West Ham Women expert rounds up the international duty
We’re delighted to welcome Michelle Irons as our exclusive West Ham Women’s expert. Each week she’ll be giving her views on the biggest talking points at Victoria Road…
Michelle Irons has provided a round-up of the international participants and has identified one Hammer who should have benefitted from the break.
The Hammers had a total of seven players called up to various national team squads for this break after Lucy Parker had to withdraw due to injury.
There was Irons representation in the Algarve Cup, the She Believes Cup, and the Tournoi de France, where the club’s representative was part of a trophy-winning side.
Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone Michelle Irons said: “Congratulations to Dagny Brynjarsdóttir and Katerina Svitkova on taking part in the She Believes Cup in the USA.
“Dagny is close to reaching 100 caps for Iceland and Katerina has proven to be a solid player for the Czech team.

“Also we welcome back Mel Filis, Grace Fisk, Emma Snerle and Halle Houssein who were all playing their part in other competitions.
“Biggest congratulations go to Hawa Cissoko who will be bringing home a medal after representing France [in the Tournoi de France].
“I think Hawa needed this time away after a few slip ups and lapses of concentration in recent games.
“I’m looking forward to seeing all these important players back, injury-free, and raring to go.”
The Hammers travel to the Madejski Stadium on Sunday to face Reading in the FA Cup, having gone into the break on the back of a shock 3-0 reverse against struggling Leicester City in the Women’s Super League.
In other West Ham news, the men’s chances on Sunday may have been boosted by a significant injury blow to Wolves.
