West Ham Women expert previews Everton clash

We’re delighted to welcome Michelle Irons as our exclusive West Ham Women’s expert. Each week she’ll be giving her views on the biggest talking points at Victoria Road…

Michelle Irons is expecting West Ham Women to play out a draw with Everton when they resume Women’s Super League action on Sunday (12 December).

Olli Harder’s side headed into the international break on the back of a narrow 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur last month, picking up their third win of 2021-22 as a result.

Everton are just three places and two points behind them in the table, and given how tough they have found it playing at Walton Hall Park, Michelle Irons reckons leaving with a point would be a good result for the visitors.

She told West Ham Zone while previewing the game: “I’m expecting a tough fixture ahead at Everton this weekend. We’ve had a bit of a break with some international fixtures being played and some of our girls travelling away to represent their countries.

“This fixture has never been an easy one for West Ham as it’s a tough place to go to and it can be hard to break them down.

“Everton have not had a great start to the season as they were expected to finish high but after replacing their manager they are starting to pick up points.

“West Ham have shown some fantastic progress and got some early points on the board we have been shrewd in our signings and play some good flowing football.

“Once again, this is a tough fixture, but I can see this finishing as a score draw.”

The Ironesses have already equalled their number of wins from last season so far this term, and they are just a win away from equalling the 15 points they picked up in 2020-21.

They will be aiming to finish in the European spots this season, and that is very much possible given their brilliant start to the campaign.

West Ham Women will be looking to prove a point against Everton, and a win will come very handy as they look to keep impressing going forward.
