West Ham Women expert predicts 3-0 win vs Birmingham City

We’re delighted to welcome Michelle Irons as our exclusive West Ham Women’s expert. Each week she’ll be giving her views on the biggest talking points at Victoria Road…

Michelle Irons expects West Ham Women to stroll to a comfortable 3-0 win when they take on Birmingham City on Sunday.

The Ironesses bagged a 2-0 victory away at Manchester City last weekend and will be looking to make it three consecutive Women’s Super League victories against the winless visitors.

Birmingham have lost all their four opening games, scoring once and conceding 11 goals, and Ollie Harder’s side will fancy their chances of picking up all three points.

Michelle Irons sees the hosts getting a 3-0 win, but has warned against complacency.

She told West Ham Zone: “I’m really excited for this game. It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to get more points on the board and win three in a row.

“It’s also a good time to play Birmingham, who haven’t won a league game all year. They are in a perilous position at the moment and we need to keep our focus and get the job done.

“I’m looking for a tight-knit game with our work ethic being at the forefront of our play once again.

“We will have fans there and I can see the atmosphere being loud and excited as the club are trying to get more and more fans in.

“I’m hoping for a clear 3-0 win with a lot of chances created and taken.”

West Ham have a great chance to equal the number of victories they secured last term just after five games in 2021-22, and they will be full of belief and confidence.

Emphatic wins over Leicester City and Man City have provided them with a much-needed boost going forward, and getting the job done against Birmingham should be straightforward.

With the men on international break, more fans are expected at the Victoria Road to cheer the ladies on, and that will be great to see.
