West Ham Women expert happy with blend of youth and experience
We’re delighted to welcome Michelle Irons as our exclusive West Ham Women expert. Each week she’ll be giving her views on the biggest talking points at Victoria Road…
West Ham United Women expert Michelle Irons is happy with the mix of youth and experience that Paul Konchesky has in his current squad.
The Irons kick off their WSL campaign against Everton on Sunday afternoon at Victoria Road, looking to build on their sixth-placed finish from the 2021/22 season.
Irons feels that with Konchesky in charge, they have a great chance of flourishing in the 2022/23 campaign after a successful summer.
Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, she said “We have a nice balance of youth and experience this season.
“It’s a long season ahead but we have a great opportunity to flourish in this league with Konch and his priceless experience in the men’s game.
“All eyes are on the league now after a very successful summer and I’d like us to work hard and cement our place where a club like West Ham belongs.”
West Ham will be without Japanese midfielder Yui Hasegawa after she completed her move to Manchester City for a six-figure fee plus add-ons, a move which shocked our Hammers expert Irons.
However, The Hammers could see new recruit Honoka Hayashi make her debut at the weekend after her arrival from AIK Fotboll Dam.
The Irons were due to face Chelsea on the opening weekend of the league season, but due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, all fixtures were postponed.
