West Ham winger Poland bound to save family amid Ukraine war – report
West Ham winger Andriy Yarmolenko has flown out to Poland to “rescue” his wife and child amid the ongoing Ukrainian crisis.
The attacker is yet to leave the country yet after being given compassionate leave by the Hammers.
Ex-international teammate Andriy Shevchenko told Sky Sports News via The Sun: “His wife was with one of his children in Ukraine and they have crossed the border into Poland.

“God please, Andriy is going to fly to Poland to get his wife.”
Yarmolenko has already missed two games for the club and could be set to miss any more with no end in sight for the Ukraine conflict.
Brave
Wow. Often football seems like the be all and end all of life, but this situation really opens your eyes.
Many people don’t look at footballers like they do normal human beings due to the vast amount of wealth they have and the lifestyle they live but Yarmolenko’s situation really puts things into perspective.

He will be a very brave man if he actually goes himself to save his family which is what is largely expected of him.
The Hammers almost have no choice but to handle this scenario with the grace they have done so far. It is such a difficult situation to understand from an outsider’s view so you can imagine how the West Ham forward feels with loved ones at risk.
Even at a time when the club needs every player playing and at their best, he has more important things to take care of and definitely wouldn’t be able to concentrate on his football.
Let him go and rescue his family and hopefully then he is ready enough to return to action.
