West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen tipped to earn England call-up

TalkSPORT pundit Trevor Sinclair says Jarrod Bowen deserves a call-up to the England squad after his brilliant West Ham form this season.

Bowen joined the Hammers from Hull in January 2020 and has now cemented himself as a regular starter for David Moyes’ side as they excel in the Premier League and Europa League.

He had a goal disallowed, won a penalty and got two assists during West Ham’s 4-1 win over Watford on Tuesday afternoon and the performance was enough to earn him praise from talkSPORT pundit Sinclair.

The former Irons midfielder tweeted out, “Bowen for the World Cup squad if he continues,” with England having qualified for the Qatar tournament in December 2022.

The currently uncapped star has so far registered five assists and three goals in the Premier League this season and has shown an ability to play out wide or through the middle.

Competition

While Bowen’s form has undoubtedly been excellent for the Hammers, he faces a lot of competition in the attacking areas for England.

He’ll be competing with the likes of Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish and Bukayo Saka which is a hugely tough ask.

Tony Cascarino believes that Bowen is similar to Mohamed Salah in his direct skillset and that could definitely play in his favour, but it’s such a stacked area filled with quality.

Bowen shouldn’t feel inferior to those players, but the fact of the matter is that they’re all playing at a higher level than the 25-year-old and he shouldn’t feel demotivated by that fact.

If he can continue his excellent form and West Ham continue to play at the level they are, then he has every chance of getting a call-up for the next set of internationals and making an impact for them.
