West Ham were keen on signing Sevilla striker Munir El Haddadi
West Ham were keen on signing Sevilla forward Munir El Haddadi this summer, according to his agent Francisco Valdivieso.
In an interview with Spanish media outlet ABC, Valdivieso stated that up to 12 clubs were interested in the 26-year-old, with the Hammers being one of the teams that showed interest in his services until deadline day.
However, he stated that the Morocco international did not want to leave Spain in the summer.
His agent said, “In England, both Crystal Palace and West Ham showed a lot of interest until the last day of the market.
“Munir did not want to leave or Sevilla or La Liga. In Spain, the offers he has received have not been to his liking.”
Would’ve been a good move
It was one of the worst kept secrets of the English transfer window that the Hammers were looking for a striker.
Since Sebastien Haller’s departure, the club haven’t signed anyone and failed to bring anyone through the door this summer as well.
While many have waxed lyrical about their transfer business, all it will take is for an injury to Michail Antonio for the panic buttons to be pressed at the London Stadium.
Munir is a quality striker who had been tipped for greatness. In FourFourTwo’s 2014 feature, he was labelled “formidable” despite his relatively diminutive frame.
While his career hasn’t kicked off in the way many thought that it would, he’s only 26 as of now and still has a while to go to prove his doubters wrong.
Hopefully, the Hammers retain their interest and attempt to sign him in the January transfer window.
