West Ham want to sign Sassuolo ace Filip Djuricic – report

West Ham United want to sign Sassuolo attacking midfielder Filip Djuricic this summer, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

It has been reported that Southampton are also in the race, with offers already being tabled from the Premier League.

Di Marzio has suggested that the Serbian playmaker would prefer to stay in Italy and the Serie A than jump ship.

The Hammers will be in the market for attacking reinforcement this summer, especially with the Europa League coming up.

Michail Antonio is also alone as the only senior forward, with the final third options looking as fragile as ever.

Jesse Lingard will remain as the main target and priority after his stunning loan spell, but it appears as though some other options are being tracked.

It appears as though Djuricic fits into that category perfectly.

Why Djuricic?

The 29-year-old isn’t a household name and hasn’t exactly lit up the Serie A in recent years for Sassuolo.

Southampton are also interested, so it looks as though the Irons will need to act quickly if they want to get this one over the line.

Djuricic only managed to score five goals and add four assists in his 32 appearances in Italy, nowhere near what Lingard managed.

With the Serbian not looking like he is favouring a move away from Italy, to either the Irons or Southampton, this one looks unlikely.

The transfer window opens tomorrow though, and should the Hammers make their case early, they have time to persuade Djruicic that this is the right move.
