West Ham want to sign Real Madrid forward Luka Jovic this summer

West Ham are reportedly keen on signing Real Madrid forward Luka Jovic this summer.

According to Eurosport, the Hammers are considering the Serbia international as an option as Carlo Ancelotti does not see him as part of his plans for this coming season and the club are prepared to let him leave.

The 23-year-old has been a long-term target for West Ham and given their striker crisis, they could revisit the situation this summer.

Must get him

Our pursuits of signing a striker this summer have ended miserably and we cannot go another season with Michail Antonio leading the line for us.

He may be an extremely versatile and hard-working player for us, but his injury record is woeful and we cannot afford to have him shoulder our goal-scoring responsibilities.

The 23-year-old Jovic may not have enjoyed the best of times at the Santiago Bernabeu, but at a club like Real Madrid only the best of the best tend to thrive and most players with high ceilings fail to realise their true potential there.

Jovic would be an amazing signing for us and we must move heaven and earth to get him to the club.

He’s previously been likened to Luis Suarez by Mladen Krstajic, the former Serbia head coach.

In a 2019 interview with T-Online, Germany’s largest news portal, as relayed by the Bundesliga website, he said, “I’d probably compare him to Luis Suarez. He’s courageous and dangerous at any moment because he’s always lying in wait for his chance or any inattention from the opponent.”

We’re in dire need of signing strikers of this ilk, and Jovic would fit the bill perfectly for us.

With Tammy Abraham looking highly unlikely, David Moyes must switch his attention to the Serbian.
