West Ham want to sign Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu, permanent deal on cards – Fabrizio Romano
West Ham United are interested in making a move for Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Hammers are in the market to sign a player in order to strengthen the midfield ahead of the next campaign.
As per Romano, the Irons are one of many European clubs to be linked with the Turkey international. Kokcu was closely monitored by Arsenal many times last season but decided against making a bid for him.
Turkey international has a value of £19.80 million on Transfermarkt but former Feyenoord winger Ali Boussaboun claimed back in February that the Dutch club should only let the player go for a fee in the region of £42million and £50.5million.
Athletic midfielder
Kokcu is an athletic midfielder, known for covering every blade of grass with a tremendous work ethic. However, he also has the tendency to be equally as influential with the ball.
In the recently concluded Dutch season, the 21-year-old had an outstanding time for his club where he managed to score seven goals and provided nine assists across 32 appearances.

He played 86% of the overall minutes in the Dutch League and contributed to 21% of the overall goals [Transfermarkt].
Even though he classifies himself as a central midfielder, Kokcu can also play as the attacking midfielder behind the striker. His creativity in the middle of the park can be very crucial for the likes of Michael Antonio and Jarrod Bowen.
With Mark Noble retired and attacking midfielder Nikola Vlasic is almost certain to leave after a disappointing first campaign, West Ham are definitely in the market to sign a player like the Haarlem-born maestro.
