West Ham want to sign Bristol City winger Antoine Semenyo

West Ham United will face competition from Celtic this summer in the battle to sign Bristol City winger Antoine Semenyo, according to The Mirror.

The 22-year-old has broken through at Ashton Gate this season after a couple of loans spells and is lighting up the Championship with six goals and eight assists to his name.

The Englishman recently compared his game to that of Chelsea legend Didier Drogba and Arsenal hero Thierry Henry.

West Ham

“For running in behind Thierry Henry. They are the perfect examples of both. Drogba’s link-up play was unreal, and with Henry’s pace and power, he literally had everything. I try to model the two sides of my game around them,” he said, as quoted by The Mirror.

“In terms of who I’m a bit closer to in my game, I’d say Drogba. He could play into feet and run in behind and dribble too. It’s probably a little bit more like me.”

The Mirror report that West Ham will have to pay close to £15million in order to prize Semenyo away from Ashton Gate this summer.

Bowen replacement

David Moyes might need a new right winger come the start of next season with reports intensifying regarding Jarrod Bowen’s future at the London Stadium.

West Ham

CaughtOffisde believe the Irons could ask for nearly £75million for the 25-year-old which would be a net profit of £60million if they sign Semenyo in his place.

They plucked Bowen from the EFL when he was at Hull city and it has worked to great success so who is to say it won’t happen again with Semenyo?

He has age on his side at just 22 and his experience at various levels should stand him in good stead if/when he makes his Premier League bow.

The Hammers should have all the financial power to blow Celtic out of the water if it comes down to the pay packet available so there is no need for panic just because there is a rival team in the hunt.

In other West Ham news, a Russian international is embroiled in a row over social media with one of Moyes’ players due to ongoing world events.
