West Ham unlikely to consider January sale of Andriy Yarmolenko
West Ham are not understood to be keen on shipping attacker Andriy Yarmolenko off this season, claims ExWHUemployee.
The Ukrainian attacker was linked with the exit door all summer, and despite a decent Euro 2020 campaign, ended up staying at the club.
Ex believes that it was down to the fact that he’s on very high wages and is also on the wrong side of 30 to be too high on the priority list of clubs that can afford to pay him a substantial salary.

Speaking on the Patreon episode of The West Ham Way podcast, “There have been plans to ship him off. They planned to move him on in the summer but the problem with him is that he is one of the highest earners, if not the highest earner at the club at the moment.”
“Obviously if you’re not performing in the Premier League and you’re in your 30s and you’ve got bit of a hip injury record there’s not going to be too many takers from you.
“With Europe, they made the decision against loaning him out as his experience would come in handy for the opposition. They made the decision to keep him on as a squad player and deal with his situation at the end of the season.”
Good decision
Given the fact that the Hammers didn’t sign a striker this summer, it makes sense to have all the attacking players available for selection.
Failure to land Jesse Lingard also means that Yarmolenko is likely to get more playing time in the coming months.

However, the 31-year-old came off the bench against Manchester United, and failed to impress.
That said, it’s harsh to judge him after one game and hopefully, he will come good when David Moyes needs him the most.
He could put in decent performances in the Europa League as the pace of the games there are slower and they will suit Yarmolenko perfectly.
With his contract expiring in the summer, there’s a very good chance that he leaves for free unless interest suddenly increases in him before the January window shuts.
