West Ham United winger Nathan Holland closes in on MK Dons move

West Ham United winger Nathan Holland is set to finalise a deal to join League One side MK Dons as reported by The Telegraph’s Jason Burt.

The 24-year-old winger spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Oxford United and will leave the London Stadium when his contract expires at the end of June.

Burt reported on Tuesday 21 June via his personal Twitter account that the winger is set to return to League One to join Liam Manning’s MK Dons side, which finished third in League One in 2021/22.

Whilst on loan at Oxford the winger notched five goals and seven assists in the 2021/22 campaign.

Time to go

Holland’s career at West Ham never really got going after being tipped to have a big future at the London Stadium after joining from Everton in 2017.

A series of loan spells and stints in under-23 sides never really helped his development and the 24-year-old has seemingly found his level in League One.

Holland is a prime example of a young player who has been starved of first-team chances at West Ham and as a result, has seen his development stall.

West Ham

Given his age, it is understandable why he has made the drop down to League One in search of regular minutes.

It would not be a surprise to see the winger be successful at MK Dons, with Manning being an excellent coach at getting the very best out of his players.

West Ham will want to ensure that situations such as Holland’s one don’t become a frequent occurrence at the London Stadium.
