West Ham United winger Maxwel Cornet hit with virus amid injury problems
West Ham winger Maxwel Cornet has been hit with a virus to make the problem worse for David Moyes, according to Six Foot Two.
The Hammers winger, who joined in the summer transfer window from Burnley, has made just one start in the Premier League. He has picked up recurrent injuries and has barely featured for the club.
The 26-year-old is currently in France where he is nursing his calf injury, and it appears that he has picked up a virus illness as well.
“Maxwell Cornet has also been hit with a virus as he tries to recover from a calf injury in France,” wrote the news editor of Six Foot Two on Twitter.
Beyond belief
A host of clubs chased Cornet in the summer transfer window, and West Ham got the better of others to sign him. It turned out to be a hugely frustrating buy for the club.
He has managed just 88 minutes of Premier League action and featured in two games in the Conference League. He recently returned from a long injury setback during the World Cup break and soon again picked up a calf injury.
This must be really frustrating for Moyes who just cannot find a way to integrate him into his plans.

West Ham need his quality players to help the team avoid relegation, but it’s unclear when can Cornet return. Even if he returns in the next few weeks, Moyes cannot use him straightaway. He will need more time to get back to the proper physical shape and match fitness.
The Hammers are also sweating on the injuries of Nayef Aguerd and Lucas Paqueta. The Moroccan defender picked up a groin injury against Chelsea in the last match, while Paqueta appears to have picked up a shoulder injury in the same game.
