West Ham will consider offers for Arthur Masuaku in summer – report
West Ham United will listen to offers for defender Arthur Masuaku in the upcoming summer, according to Claret and Hugh.
The reliable club source have claimed on their website that despite having three more years on his contract, the wing-back could be sacrificed.
The Irons need to raise funds to strengthen their squad, and Masuaku could be on the chopping block with the likes of Andriy Yarmolenko and Manuel Lanzini.
The Congo international has struggled with injuries this season and has failed to cement his spot at the London Stadium.
Masuaku isn’t a guarantee to be sold, but the club are understood to “certainly” listen to any enquiry made from opposition clubs.
The 27-year-old has only made 12 starts this season due to his injury worries, but he is in the bunch of top performers within the squad.
According to WhoScored’s average match ratings, there are only five other players who have better scores in the entire squad.
Problem area.
We can’t see Masuaku leaving this summer, there just aren’t enough left-backs at the club.
Aaron Cresswell has moved into the heart of defence in a back-five, and that has seen the Congo international flourish when he has featured.
Ben Johnson and Ryan Fredericks have started in that position in the absence of Masuaku, and that has brought problems for the Irons.
The defender has been labelled as “unbelievable” during his time at the London Stadium, and he certainly has the ability to impress.
We need a specialist in that area, especially with good backup, and Masuaku is the player who can easily fill one of those roles next season.
