West Ham United want to sign free agent Andre Ayew, he's exited Al-Sadd already

West Ham are one of the clubs looking to sign “free agent” Andre Ayew in the late hours of the January transfer window, according to journalist Toby Cudworth.

The 90min journalist has shared on Twitter that Bournemouth, Southampton, Everton and Nottingham Forest have also shown interest in the 33-year-old former Premier League forward.

The Ghana winger, who previously played for the Hammers, has left Qatari side Al Sadd already after scoring 21 goals in 39 games for them over the past two seasons.

“West Ham, Bournemouth, Southampton, Everton and Nottingham Forest have shown an interest in free agent Andre Ayew. The 33-year-old has lots of PL experience & is a potential late window option after leaving Al Sadd,” wrote Cudworth.

Strange

Ayew is one of the most decorated players in Ghana. He has made over 110 appearances for his national side and has got vast Premier League experience.

He has played for Marseille and Swansea City in his career, and did really well during his time in the Premier League.

Ayew spent two seasons at West Ham (2016-18) where he scored 12 goals in 50 appearances for the club. So, the club isn’t new to him.

The Hammers have already signed Danny Ings this month from Aston Villa, and David Moyes is looking to add one or two more players.

Getting a player of Ayew’s quality for free won’t be a bad move, but will he really make any significant improvement?

He can definitely bring experience to the side, but he has been away from Premier League football for two years now. Will he be sharp enough to add valuable contributions to the side?

Nevertheless, on a free transfer, it is a risk-free business.
