West Ham United want to sign Borussia Dortmund defender Raphel Guerreiro in January
West Ham United want to sign Borussia Dortmund defender Raphel Guerreiro in January, according to jeunesfooteux.com.
Guerreiro is free to commit to any club from January 1 2023 for next season but the Hammers want the defender to join them during this campaign.
The report claims that West Ham will have to fight off Premier League rivals Leeds United for the Portugal international’s signature.
“West Ham checked the name of Raphaël Guerreiro. At the end of the contract in June with Borussia Dortmund, the former FC Lorient player is therefore free to commit from January 1 with the club of his choice for next season,” as quoted by jeunesfooteux.com.
“Nevertheless the Hammers would like to recruit him from January
“Note that Leeds United are also interested in Guerreiro, who has a contract extension offer at BvB.”

Classy.
Guerreiro is currently at the FIFA World Cup with Portugal, so any contact made with the defender will have to wait until that is done.
He’d provide some real competition for Aaron Cresswell in left-back, something desperately needed with knockout-stage European games being played in the new year.
It does seem like this will be a bit of a tough ask however, especially with Dortmund offering him a new contract and Leeds eager to bring him to Elland Road.
Nevertheless, the Dortmund defender is the exact type of talent the Hammers need to be targeting moving forward, he’s classy, to say the least.
There will always be fuel to the fire of his name being linked with the club, whether that’s his agent trying to drum up Dortmund’s contract offer or the Portuguese defender wanting to leave.
Whatever the case is, it would be foolish for West Ham United to not at least explore the option of bringing Guerreiro to the London Stadium.
