West Ham United want to sign Burnley attacker Maxwel Cornet as relegation clause now triggered

West Ham United now want to sign Burnley attacker Maxwel Cornet this summer, according to Mike McGrath.

The Telegraph journalist has reported that the Hammers want to take advantage of a Premier League relegation clause which makes the winger available for only £17.5million.

It is shared that Premier League side Everton are ready to rival West Ham for the relegated star after they manage to survive along with Leeds at the expense of the Clarets.

David Moyes is already said to have a shortlist of players ready to work on.

With a deal for Rennes defender Nayef Aguerd already close, the Irons look as though they are moving on to reinforcements in the final third at the London Stadium.

As well as Cornet, another relegated star, this time Emmanuel Dennis of Watford is another name that is being looked at for a potential transfer.

Cornet is said to represent better value though given that he took to the Premier League so well and is an established international with the Ivory Coast.

Needed.

This would be a brilliant signing.

The Hammers bench has been a real issue for years now, and after getting rid of Andriy Yarmolenko on huge wages, there is space to bring in fresh, better players.

Cornet would certainly be in that category.

The Ivorian offers great pace and skill, as well as the ability to find the net consistently – something that likes of Yarmolenko didn’t do enough over the years.

Dennis would be another good option on top of that given his ability to play more centrally too, and why wouldn’t two relegated players swap that for European football next season?

Now it is just down to the Hammers to stump up the cash, surely they have much more to offer than Everton do, after their shocking year on and off the pitch.

Aguerd looks like he will be the first through the door in this window, but Cornet is certainly one to watch.
