West Ham United want to sign Ansu Fati from Barcelona after Lionel Messi development emerges
West Ham United want to sign Barcelona attacker Ansu Fati with the 20-year-old free to leave the Nou Camp, according to 90min.
90min claim (8 May) that Fati has been told he can leave the Catalan giants in order to help finalise Lionel Messi’s return to Spain.
It’s understood West Ham and Wolves are keen on the 20-year-old, however, it’s believed he isn’t particularly keen on departing Barcelona at present.
Furthermore, Fati would be looking to move to a bigger club near the top end of the table if he does decide to leave Spain, with Manchester United and Chelsea linked in the past.

Fati has struggled for form during the 2022/23 season, but, after Messi’s departure, he was tipped to be the man to replace the iconic Argentinian at the Nou Camp. He’s a high-class player and it’s amazing to see the Hammers linked with him.

However, it’s unlikely that Fati will want to make the move to the London Stadium. He’s still young and will fancy his chances of reaching his full potential at one of the biggest clubs on the planet. From West Ham’s perspective, it’s good to see them linked with a player of his calibre. With their Premier League status all but secure, the Hammers can now cast an eye ahead towards the summer window.
The recruitment last summer certainly raised expectations and it’s important the board go again during the off-season. The squad should’ve performed better this season, but, with the right additions, there’s a real chance for the Hammers to kick on the reclaim their place amongst the top ten.
