West Ham United want Leander Dendoncker and Jan Bednarek before deadline
West Ham are looking to sign a central defender and a central midfielder before Thursday’s (1 September) transfer deadline, as per Dharmesh Sheth.
The Sky Sports journalist reported on Twitter on 1 September that the Hammers are eyeing a move for Wolves midfielder Leander Dendoncker.
David Moyes wants to sign Jan Bednarek on loan from Southampton, and it is “ready to go” once Craig Dawson completed his move away from the club.
This has already been a massive transfer window for the club, and it could get even better if the Hammers manage to pull off a deal for both these players.
The defence has been completely revamped. David Moyes, ideally, didn’t want to lose Dawson, as he was a key player for the club last season.
However, he wants to stay close to his family, and West Ham are happy to fulfil his wishes. His replacement, Bednarek, won’t be a bad option either.
The 26-year-old has got Premier League experience, and he would be a solid addition to the side. He will add tremendous depth and quality at the back.
However, Dendoncker would be a superb addition. Already, the Hammers have added Lucas Paqueta on a big-money deal, and adding Dendoncker to it would be huge.
Moyes will be able to rotate the squad and rest key players like Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice, without hampering the quality. Credit has to be given to the board as well who have backed Moyes in this transfer window.
This could be a long day at the club, but the Hammers appear to be determined to get those deals done.
