West Ham United want Boulaye Dia as Premier League dreams emerge

Salernitana striker Boulaye Dia dreams of moving to a Premier League club as West Ham eye the 26-year-old striker, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport.

Dia is currently on loan from Villarreal. The Salerno side have the option to sign the Senegalese striker permanently for £10.3million.

The Italian newspaper report (print edition, pg 74, 1 June), that Salernitana want to keep Dia next season but will face competition from West Ham, Tottenham, Aston Villa and Roma.

It’s believed the 25-year-old wants to move to a Premier League side that plays European football, which puts West Ham and Aston Villa in strong positions. Dia has 16 Seria A goals to his name this season.

Strong chance

Considering West Ham currently play in Europe and are a stable Premier League side, they could stand a good chance of landing Dia. The striker has enjoyed an excellent season and Villarreal will be kicking themselves after allowing him to exit.

Salernitana are likely to sign the striker and then look to cash in during the summer. With Michail Antonio entering the latter stages of his career, there’s a chance David Moyes may need to add another attacker to his ranks. Dia is a good age and proven at international and club level. There’s a lot to like.

It will be interesting to see how West Ham’s board handle the summer window. Last year they invested heavily and, if we are being honest, the results were sub-par. The off-season could see the board become more astute and look to find value within the market.

Improvements will have to be made in order for the fanbase to remain behind the board and Moyes.
