West Ham United urged to sign Armando Broja from Chelsea by Anton Ferdinand
West Ham United still have two competitions to focus on in the Premier League and Europa League but some eyes are turning to the summer already.
Thursday’s 2-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt gave the Hammers plenty to do in Germany next week and the visit of Arsenal this afternoon could put an end to their top-four hopes with only a top-six place being even remotely likely.
One issue David Moyes has had to contend with all year long has been the lack of backup to Michail Antonio up front and Anton Ferdinand wants the club to move for Armando Broja in the summer.

“He’s exciting. He can finish. He’s a powerful young man,” Ferdinand said to the Sun. “Not the same but similar to Antonio in terms of his presence and strength.
“He’s willing to run and occupy two centre-backs and for me personally, he’s somebody that West Ham should look to go and get.
“We needed a striker in January. Just having Antonio, we can see at times it has taken a toll on him.
“The European nights he has been able to go up a gear, whereas in the Premier League games maybe he looks a bit tired.”
Obvious
Every party involved in West Ham United knew that they needed to sign a striker in January from the manager, to the board, to the fans but nothing materialised.

All kinds of names were thrown around as a possible addition to the side but none of them ended up walking through the Rush Green doors and it has left quite the gap in the squad.
As a result, Antonio has been essentially forced to play almost every game this season without the regular breaks that other players have had the luxury of.
At 31 years of age, it is almost a miracle that he hasn’t been injured for a great deal of time this season but the aches and pains will be increasing with every game he is having to play.
He did at least sit out of the 1-0 defeat away at Chelsea last weekend but it was a pretty toothless display in attack which only highlighted the significance of the dilemma even more.
In other West Ham news, Ferdinand has also had his say on who should play in defence when Arsenal come to town later today.
