West Ham United undeterred by new Ibrahima Sangare contract

West Ham United will keep pursuing a deal to sign PSV Eindhoven’s Ivorian midfielder Ibrahim Sangare, according to Foot Mercato.

The 24-year-old had been the target of a move for the Irons but the Daily Mail reported that the transfer was now out of the question after he signed a new five-year deal with one of Holland’s top clubs.

Foot Mercato report, however, that West Ham are undeterred in their efforts and will still try to make a transfer happen this summer.

Foot 365 journalist Ignazio Genuardi then added more flesh to the bone in stating that Sangare’s new contract still included the same £31million release clause.

He said that it would take an “indecent” offer to make the deal happen now though with a more likely move to take place next summer should the interest remain.

Too much

You have to assume that if Sangare is going to leave PSV this summer it will only be for the £31million release clause in his contract and that is just too much.

Especially when you consider that Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek have bossed the West Ham midfield for a couple of seasons now and they will continue to do so this time around.

West Ham

That means Sangare would come in as a backup at best and it really isn’t worth spending such ridiculous prices on bench-warmers – unless you’re Manchester City, of course.

West Ham need to look for a cheaper alternative or, preferably, believe in their exceptional academy as they did with Rice and give Conor Coventry that role or even some of the other youngsters starting to come through the ranks.

When Moyes is still pursuing an attacking midfielder and a centre-half too, consideration has to be taken over the amount of money spent in other areas before the window shuts.
