West Ham United transfer news: Multi-million permanent option included as Thilo Kehrer exit agreement reached
An agreement has been reached between West Ham and Monaco over the initial loan of Thilo Kehrer with an option worth €10million [£8.76m] included, according to Santi Aouna and Sebastien Denis.
The Foot Mercato journalists reported via Twitter on 2 January that the Germany defender is set for a move away from the London Stadium and it could be made permanent for a modest fee.
The 27-year-old has struggled for game time this season having only arrived at the London Stadium at the start of last term from Paris Saint-Germain.
Nonda wrote: “Agreement reached between West Ham and AS Monaco for the loan with purchase option of Thilo Kehrer.”
Denis then added: “Important information, Thilo Kehrer’s loan to AS Monaco includes a purchase option of around 10M €.”
Potential loss
Having arrived as a £10.1m signing plus add-ons from PSG a year and a half ago [Sky Sports] it is a measure of the defender’s reduced standing under David Moyes that he could leave for less than that after 50 appearances for the club.
A €500,000 loan fee [£434,000] is thought to be included up front, but after making 38 appearances in his debut Irons season, including 27 in the top flight, he has seen far less action so far this term.
Just four late substitute outings in the Premier League from a total of 12 games has apparently made him expendable at the London Stadium.

Moyes will likely be looking to upgrade as he will need to replace the cover that the versatile Kehrer provided, although his budget isn’t going to be boosted a huge amount either way.
Konstantinos Mavropanos’ summer acquisition crowded the central defensive picture and the Germany international has been unable to dislodge Emerson or Vladimir Coufal at full-back.
Having been hastily sourced during a defensive injury crisis at the beginning of the previous campaign it looks like his work at West Ham might be done already, with a relatively low-cost permanent exit route now in place.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are looking to cash in on one exit-linked forward player to sign three men.
