West Ham United transfer news Gianluca Scamacca exit timeline emerges amid Roma chief push

Roma General Manager Tiago Pinto will try to complete a deal for West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca by 10 July, according to Tuttosport.

The publication noted that Pinto, on two trips to London so far, has already discussed Scamacca’s willingness to move to the Serie A club.

But the Roma chief has thus far failed to convince West Ham to let the striker leave on loan without the obligation to buy, the report states.

“In the meantime, in the two trips of the general manager to London, the club has already cashed in on the player’s opening to wear the yellow and red shirt, but now we need to convince the Hammers to let him go without the obligation to buy,” according to Tuttosport.

“Not easy considering that not even a year ago the English club bought him for a total amount of around €40million (£34million), but Pinto will try anyway to get the striker that Jose Mourinho needs.

“And he will try to do it by 10 July, the date of the summer meeting in Trigoria.”

In the works

Transfers take plenty of time, particularly when players may be simply wanting to relax on their holidays after a busy season.

But Scamacca is perhaps on the other end of the spectrum, in that he may be keen to get a move away from East London so that he can have a fresh start elsewhere as soon as possible.

Having played in Roma’s youth teams previously, a return to the Italian capital for Scamacca certainly makes sense.

However, West Ham are unsurprisingly eager to make sure they win as much as they can in any exit deal involving the striker, given both how much they paid for him and how little an impact he had in claret and blue last season.

The East London outfit spent a lot of money to bring him to England last summer, and they were massively let down as the Italian netted just eight goals from his 27 appearances in all competitions.

In other West Ham news, the East London outfit have completed their first summer signing as their new player pens a three-year deal at the club.
