West Ham United transfer news: Declan Rice medical update emerges ahead of Arsenal move

Declan Rice appears set to be the seventh departure for West Ham this summer with Arsenal set to make him the most expensive British player.

According to the Metro [03 June], the 24-year-old arrived in London over the weekend and will be undergoing his medical at the Gunners.

He will be the seventh departure with Arthur Masuaku, Jamal Baptiste, Manuel Lanzini, Ademipo Odubeko, Armstrong Oko-Flex and Brian Kinnear all leaving the club.

Get it done

The sooner the deal gets done the better it is for the Hammers as they can then spend money on new signings and start their summer.

Thus far, they’ve just been fending interest in Rice from everywhere and it seems like the saga is coming to an end.

At some point, there was a feeling Manchester City would be able to blow the Gunners out of the water with an audacious bid, but that didn’t happen.

So, West Ham were left to accept Arsenal’s offer and negotiate the finer details of the bid which now seems to have been agreed upon.

There’s a good chance of the deal being made official this week as there’s no reason to hold back one of the biggest announcements in Premier League history.

David Moyes has to spend the money wisely and ensure that the absence of Rice is not felt as badly as many think that it will.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are already preparing to cash in on the Declan Rice money as they hold a transfer meeting in London as they’re confident of sealing a £50million signing.
