West Ham United transfer news as total verbal agreement reached with Harry Maguire – Sky Sports Germany

West Ham United have reached a total verbal agreement with Manchester United defender Harry Maguire, according to Florian Plettenberg.

According to the Sky Germany journalist (9 August), taking to his personal Twitter account, West Ham have reached a total agreement with the England international with the last steps to clarify the severance pay between the 30-year-old and Manchester United.

The transfer fee is believed to be around £30m, with Maguire excited by the prospect of joining David Moyes’ side in East London (Evening Standard).

Plettenberg tweeted:

“Understand, there’s a total verbal agreement between West Ham United and Harry Maguire.”

“There’s also an agreement with Manchester United.

“Transfer fee of around £30m confirmed.

“Last step is to clarify the severance pay between Maguire & Manchester United.”

Brilliant signing

After all but completing a deal to sign Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez and agreeing a fee with Southampton to sign James Ward-Prowse, it now seems as if West Ham United are moving swiftly to seal their top defensive target in Maguire.

And the Irons are now receiving plenty of encouragement to get this statement transfer over the line, with United already lining up a move for Maguire’s replacement at Old Trafford.

West Ham

The former Leicester City defender will certainly transform the Irons’ game under Moyes and his leadership qualities will prove absolutely crucial as they aim to build on last season’s European success, but also improve vastly in the Premier League.

£30m is an excellent deal for all parties involved with Moyes acquiring his top defensive target while Ten Hag is able to let go a player he no longer needs.

With the Hammers looking to improve on last season’s disastrous Premier League campaign, they’ll need all the experience and leadership they can get and Maguire certainly fits the bill for Moyes and the Irons.

Alvarez, Ward-Prowse and Maguire is brilliant business so far after what’s been a difficult summer at the London Stadium.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers identify a “shock” replacement for Aaron Cresswell with a new player stance emerging over a move to East London.
