West Ham United transfer news as Sean Moore set to sign in days

By Daniel Carter.

West Ham United are set to confirm the signing of teenager Sean Moore from Cliftonville in the coming days, according to the Belfast Telegraph.

The 17-year-old winger is set to join the Europa Conference League winners this week, with the Irons beating the likes of Celtic, Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion to his signature.

Moore was one of the brightest talents in the Irish League, scoring five goals and assisting three times in 26 appearances and the Reds could be set to earn plenty of money upfront and in future instalments.

For the Belfast Telegraph, Steven Beacon writes, “Cliftonville were set to receive an initial fee of around £170,000 with several stipulations in the transfer which will lead to the Solitude side hitting a financial jackpot if Moore makes the grade in England.

“It is possible that the Reds could make in the region of £500,000 from the switch with add-ons relating to the likes of first-team appearances with a hefty sell-on clause expected to be written into the contract.”

Investing in youth

You’d imagine West Ham may well have more important areas to invest throughout this summer, with Declan Rice’s future being away from the London Stadium but investing in youth is never a bad call.

Rice is the prime example of this, with figures closing in on £100m (The Sun) being reported to secure his signature an excellent profit for an academy prospect that’s been given a chance.

This is nothing new for the Hammers, similar happened with Frank Lampard and Rio Ferdinand, so for Moore, there is a clear pathway to success in a move to East London.

Partner that with the West Ham crop coming through at the London Stadium who recently won this season’s FA Youth Cup, it’s completely understandable why Moore has chosen the Hammers ahead of the other suitors.

For Cliftonville the deal is an absolute no-brainer, with their previous biggest departure (Transfermarkt) being the sale of Rory Donnelly to Swansea for just over £100,000 in the 2011/12 campaign and with Moore already featuring for the Irish youth sides, you’d imagine plenty of the future clauses will be activated.
