West Ham United transfer news as Italian and German clubs join race for Sheraldo Becker – Fabrizio Romano

West Ham United are currently tracking the progress of Union Berlin striker Sheraldo Becker and have been joined by clubs in Italy and Germany in the race for his signature, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Becker has enjoyed a tremendous campaign in the German top flight, scoring 11 goals and registering seven assists from 32 appearances and the Daily Mail reported on 15 May that the German club were braced for offers this summer.

Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg revealed [16 May] the Hammers’ interest in the player with Fulham and Burnley also interested in Becker’s services.

And that has been further backed up by transfer guru Romano [19 May] who reveals that both London clubs West Ham and Fulham are tracking the 28-year-old striker, and have been joined by Italian and German competition for his signature.

Taking to his personal Twitter account, he wrote: “West Ham and Fulham are tracking Sheraldo Becker, he collected 2 goals and 2 assists vs Freiburg and he’s expected to get an important move in the summer.

“Understand there are also Italian and German clubs on Becker as a potential option.”

Get him in

With West Ham United having all but confirmed their Premier League status for next season, there will be a desperate shake-up during the summer transfer window at the London Stadium.

And there may also be plenty of cash to spend with key stars such as Declan Rice and Michail Antonio set to depart East Londoners this summer, and the former could well be sold for a price north of £100m-plus.

West Ham

Antonio’s presence will surely be missed in East London which means West Ham United will need a powerful replacement and Becker represents the ideal solution, especially given his tremendous campaign so far this season.

As well as possessing the unique qualities to score and create goals, Becker holds similar attributes to the Jamaican international in that he is incredibly quick, agile, strong and a terrific workhorse off the ball and an influential presence on the break suggesting that the West Ham United faithful certainly won’t miss Antonio too much too soon.

The 28-year-old speed merchant certainly looks ready for a move elsewhere and is at an age where he needs to be looking to progress in his career and there is no better platform to do that than in the Premier League.

But, with clubs also calling in both Italy and Germany, the Hammers may have to fight tooth and nail to secure his signature.
