West Ham United transfer news as Inter Milan set for Gianluca Scamacca summit in days

West Ham United now look likely to sell Gianluca Scamacca to Inter Milan this summer, with a summit set between the two clubs within the week, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper report in their print edition [1 August, pg 2] that Inter has now leapfrogged rivals Roma in the hunt for the forward’s signature, with Simone Inzaghi’s side ready for a permanent move in a deal worth up to £25.7m.

Roma so far have only been able to offer the Hammers a loan with an obligation to buy next season, but David Moyes’ side are more inclined to sanction a permanent sale now as they to look to acquire some of the £35m they spent to buy Scamacca last summer.

While Inter Milan have already communicated with the 24-year-old himself, there is set to be a summit between the two clubs within the next week in hopes of agreeing a deal that suits all parties.

West Ham are hoping for a fee of at least £25.7m, but it is still possible of a loan deal with an obligation to buy in the future.

Hold out for more

Most West Ham fans must be getting sick of this long-running transfer saga this summer, but the bright side for those in East London is that there is interest in Scamacca this transfer window, making him much easier to sell.

While there remain some sections of the fanbase who want to see the Italian remain at the London Stadium past August 31st, most are becoming resigned to the fact that he doesn’t want to be in England.

West Ham

There is very little benefit to having an unhappy player around a squad, especially one that you can earn a good £25m or upwards for by selling, a fee that may well help the Irons kickstart their own summer business.

A deal with Inter Milan that sees all ties cut immediately and a nice big lump sum arrive on the doorstep of the London Stadium seems a better move for the Hammers, but there may be a scenario in which they can play the two Italian sides off of one another.

More interest normally means more competition, which more than likely means a higher winning bid. Which can only be good thing for Moyes’ side.
