West Ham United transfer news as ExWHUemployee shares update on Southampton ace James Ward-Prowse

West Ham hope to have Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse available in time v Bournemouth, according to ExWHUemployee.

The reliable London Stadium insider wrote on his Patreon on 9 August that personal terms had been agreed with the England international and now a medical has been scheduled.

The Hammers are also looking to finalise the signing of Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez by 10 August.

Ex wrote, “We have had personal terms accepted for James Ward Prowse now after we finally agreed a fee with Southampton (as we predicted would happen). The player has been very keen to move and the club hope to get a medical completed and the final terms done so he can feature on the South Coast for us against Bournemouth.

“The club at the moment look likely to confirm the signing of Edson Alvarez tomorrow too.”

Get it done

The Hammers needed two midfielders after Declan Rice left permanently to join Arsenal for a record fee paid for a British player.

David Moyes and the rest of the club were prepared to deal with the England international’s absence and knew that a couple of replacements were needed.

By the looks of it, Alvarez and Ward-Prowse are the names they’ve decided on and want both for the start of the new season.

Neither of them were signed to be ready for pre season so it may take some time in order to get them ready for first-team football.

Signing them to be available for that game is fine, but it will come as a major surprise if any of them are named in the playing eleven.

They’ll need some time with the rest of their teammates before they can be thrown into the playing eleven by Moyes.

In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open on leaving his side this summer.
