West Ham United transfer news as Chelsea star Ruben Loftus-Cheek wanted amid AC Milan interest

West Ham United along with several other Premier League clubs are keen on signing Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek this summer, according to 90Min.

The 27-year-old Cobham academy product has been an unfortunate fringe player for the past few seasons and has now entered the final 18 months of his contract at Stamford Bridge.

Loftus-Cheek has been a West Ham target in the past with the Daily Mail last year [18 April 2022] reporting that the Hammers were “weighing” up a summer move for the wantaway Chelsea midfielder.

And according to 90Min [27 April], the East Londoners are amongst a long list of Premier League clubs keen on his services, but the 27-year-old is intrigued by the idea of moving to AC Milan who are emerging as serious contenders

“Sources have confirmed to 90min that Loftus-Cheek has generated plenty of interest from Serie A, where Lazio and Napoli are known admirers, but Milan are emerging as serious contenders for the midfielder’s signature.

“Loftus-Cheek is intrigued by the idea of moving to Milan and could prioritise a Serie A switch over remaining in the Premier League, where Crystal Palace, Fulham, Leicester, Newcastle, West Ham and Wolves are all keen”, the report claims.

Change of scenery

It’s no secret that Chelsea will be undergoing a heavy and pivotal rebuild this summer with plenty of their first-team stars set to depart Stamford Bridge in what’s been a torrid campaign for the whole club.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be one of the first names on that list and arguably the player who will sigh the biggest relief that his flailing Chelsea career is coming to an end, having been overlooked for all of his time in West London.

West Ham

The 27-year-old desperately needs to revive his career through a change of scenery and a move to West Ham United this summer certainly makes a lot of sense.

Loftus-Cheek is an incredibly talented player but fans have been held back in realising because of his lack of opportunities.

It could well be a make-or-break summer for the wantaway midfielder but given the huge rebuild set to take place at the London Stadium, it’s unlikely Loftus-Cheek will be a top target for West Ham United despite the club potentially needing a significant midfield refresh for next season.
