West Ham United transfer for right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka is ‘highly probable’ in January – journalist

West Ham United making a move to sign Manchester United outcast Aaron Wan-Bissaka in January is “highly probable” as David Moyes looks to replenish his defensive stocks, according to Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

The Hammers have been lining up a move for the Ex-England Under-21 star as a viable long-term replacement for Vladimir Coufal, who is reportedly close to joining Bayer Leverkusen.

Recent reports suggested that Manchester United will allow the 25-year-old to leave on a loan-to-buy offer in January, with a host of Premier League clubs and European teams interested in his signature. [90min]

Taylor points towards West Ham’s previous interest in the £45million+ defender as a sign of an upcoming move in January.

He told Give Me Sport: “Yes I would, I think that’s a very realistic transfer and that is highly probable [Irons making a move to sign him].

“I think with Wan-Bissaka, it’s clear that he’s appreciated by West Ham because they tried to get him on loan in August, so I think that’s one that has legs to it and there could be movement.“

Great option

A move for Wan-Bissaka in January makes sense to all parties.

The right-back’s form has fallen off a cliff in the last 18 months at Old Trafford, and he is now firmly cemented outside the plans of Erik ten Hag, who has turned to Diego Dalot as his alternative.

For Wan-Bissaka, first-team minutes are a necessity to what is otherwise a seriously stagnating career.

Following his £45million move to the Red Devils in 2019, the defender proved himself as one of the best one-on-one defenders in the league, despite his obvious attacking limitations.

He faced up against the very best in Europe in the Champions League, including Kylian Mbappe, and dealt with his pace with remarkable ease.

For Moyes, a right-back is a necessity in January if Coufal does indeed leave the club.

Without the Czech international, the Hammers will have to play either Thilo Kehrer or Ben Johnson on the right flank, which is by no means a long-term option.
