Reliable club source: West Ham interested in late move for Chelsea defender

West Ham United are looking to add further reinforcements in their defence with a matter of hours left in the transfer window.

The Irons have brought in Vladimir Coufal over the past week, and would now like to sign a central defender to add to that.

With funds looking limited as it stands, it is more likely that the Hammers will explore the loan market to solve their problem.

Reliable club source, ExWHUemployee has claimed that West Ham are now interested in a loan switch for Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori.

“Tomori looks to be our latest target after Rudiger’s move to Spurs has fallen through,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Jacob Steinburg has backed that up, with the Guardian journalist claiming that the Irons are well and truly interested in the England international.

Everton were also touted as a potential destination, but their move for Ben Godfrey appears to put the Hammers out in front.

This would be the perfect deal for the Irons, who don’t have the funds to bring in a big-money defender with limited time left.

Tomori impressed at Derby under Frank Lampard, who also gave the youngster a full season of experience during his first year at Stamford Bridge.

That is vital and should persuade Moyes to make the switch over a Championship option such as Joe Rodon who doesn’t have that experience.
