West Ham United: Tomas Soucek shares ‘incredible’ David Moyes verdict amid sack speculation
West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek has heaped praise on David Moyes, labelling the Irons boss “incredible” ahead of the Hammers’ clash with Freiburg.
Pressure has begun to mount on the Scotsman at the London Stadium, with poor Premier League results and a disappointing first leg against Freiburg seeing a number of supporters call for Moyes to be sacked at West Ham.
While the Hammers were once again poor as they drew 2-2 with Burnley last time out, Soucek has backed Moyes and insisted that the 60-year-old has done “very well” throughout his tenure in East London.
As quoted by The Evening Standard (13 March) he said: “You can see the results, what he has done, finishing sixth and seventh in the Premier League. Now we are in Europe three times in a row for the first time in the club’s history.
“The job he has done is incredible. I am so happy I could be part of that, to help to create history. The manager does an important job and I think he has done very well the last few years and this year as well.”
Will West Ham United sack David Moyes if they exit the Europa League?
Just as the pressure seemed to ease on Moyes thanks to wins over Brentford and Everton, the Hammers boss’ future seems to be the centre of attention once again after consecutive poor performances.
Moyes has insisted that he has been offered a new deal at the London Stadium beyond the end of the season, but sources close to the Irons have suggested that they won’t make a final decision on his future until the end of the season.

While Soucek was never likely to speak out against his manager in a pre-match press conference, it is clear from the Czech international’s comments that he remains fully behind the manager.
Hopefully, Moyes will be able to quickly turn the tide of results starting with Thursday’s (14 March) Europa League clash with Freiburg at the London Stadium to create some more history in East London.
