West Ham United duo Tomáš Souček and Vladimír Coufal stun Czech media in clash v Faroe Islands

West Ham United duo Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal stunned the Czech media with their performances against the Faroe Islands, according to

The Czech Republic ran out 5-0 winners on the night with both Soucek and Coufal starting the fixture, earning their 55th and 33rd cap respectively.

The Hammers pair both grabbed assists on the evening in their country’s international friendly in a successful outing.

Both Coufal and Soucek were given match ratings of seven by Isport after providing key passes for striker Mojmir Chytil, who enjoyed a sensational debut as he netted a hattrick inside 23 minutes.

“He asked the coaches for maximum workload – and the taste was visible. In the beginning, he prepared a goal for Chytil with a precise long-range pass. Another luxury centre after the change of sides Schwarz did not convert,” said about Coufal’s performance.

The Czech media outlet then went on to describe Soucek’s match, claiming he had some “interesting intersections” as he helped the younger heads around him.

“In the beginning, he played very low, then he pulled out and challenged Chytil to the second goal. For the rookies, he was an important element in midfield, he had interesting intersections. In the end, he tried his luck from afar.”

Always nice.

It’s always nice to see your players from the club performing on the international stage and both Czechs registering match ratings of seven is impressive.

And it seems the pair came out of the game unscathed which is always good news, nevertheless, they will now get a good break as the FIFA World Cup begins.

The Czech Republic didn’t qualify for the tournament so both players will likely now be heading back to London to enjoy some time off.

It seems this would be a good deal for all parties involved, with Coufal nearing the end of his career, the Hammers need to look at bolstering their defence with younger talents.

There are plenty of players out there for them to do just that and a bit of a defensive clear-out at the club wouldn’t go amiss.
