West Ham United to target one specific position in January transfer window - Dean Jones

West Ham United are set to target another new striker in January despite signing Gianluca Scamcca in the summer, according to Dean Jones.

The former Eurosport journalist has claimed that David Moyes wants to add even more firepower to his side after being disappointed with the lack of goals from his side so far this season.

The Irons posted another no-score on Saturday (12 November) as they were beaten 2-0 at home by Leicester City which saw the Foxes climb three points clear of them in the table.

“I was told that actually another forward is one of the things that West Ham are looking at in the January window, and I guess that’s a good sign for fans who think that Moyes isn’t attacking enough,” Jones said to Give Me Sport.

“But again, then you would have to question what’s going to change in terms of the dynamic he is getting out of the squad.”

Uninspiring

There can be no denying that the players in attack for West Ham are incredibly talented but for whatever reason, they cannot find a way to gel together at the moment.

Scamacca has led the line for European champions Italy on a number of occasions and Lucas Paqueta is heading to the World Cup with Brazil this week so these aren’t awful players.

But perhaps there is too much emphasis on these two stars to create that moment of magic to earn a draw or a win and it has to be on the rest of the team to step up and be counted.

Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen have looked like shadows of their former selves from last season and it is really hurting Moyes’ side right now.

Maxwel Cornet is another player who would be handy to have back from injury after showing sparks of inspiration earlier in the campaign but the attacking impetus can’t all be placed on one or two players anymore.
