West Ham United to surely pursue Rodrigo Becao deal after Kurt Zouma injury blow

Kurt Zouma has been ruled out for the foreseeable future after undergoing knee surgery – and that will surely see West Ham pursue a move for another defender.

The club confirmed on Thursday evening (24 November) the 28-year-old will be out of action but didn’t put a time frame on when the defender will return.

This will come as a huge blow to David Moyes, with the Frenchman a huge part of his plans at the London Stadium. It now wouldn’t be a shock to see the West Ham boss delve into the transfer market to add a new defender to his ranks.

Tuttoudinese suggest West Ham are on red alert for Udinese central defender Rodrigo Becao, along with Premier League rivals Everton, who have been long-term admirers of the 26-year-old.

With Zouma now out of action, Moyes will almost certainly be looking to bolster his defence. Furthermore, if Craig Dawson departs the London Stadium, there will be an even greater need for another defender to join the Hammers.

The injury to Zouma could well have an impact on Dawson’s potential exit, with the former Watford man eager to move back up North nearer his family. Considering he’s not one of Moyes’ first choices at the moment, the Scot still may sanction an exit for Dawson.

Becao would be an excellent addition at the London Stadium, with the defender still only 26 and in the prime of his career. Furthermore, his contract at the Serie A club comes to its conclusion in the summer of 2024, which could mean he is snapped up for a cut price.
