West Ham United to finalise Gianluca Scamacca contract tomorrow

West Ham United could have the signing of Gianluca Scamacca all wrapped up with his contract hoping to be finalised tomorrow, according to Alfredo Pedulla.

The 23-year-old has been a priority target as a striker this summer and the Irons have made a lot of ground towards making a deal happen and he is expected to travel to the UK on Monday for discussions and a medical.

The deal between West Ham and Sassuolo is reported by Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports to be £34million and should he sign his contract on Sunday (24 July) then he would be immediately available for the opening day of the season.

“The attacker’s contract by tomorrow. Then visits between Monday and Tuesday,” Pedulla wrote on his Twitter account after the 23-year-old scored 16 times for Sassuolo in Serie A last season.

That form has also earned him a place in the Italian squad but he won’t be heading to the World Cup after the reigning European champions were defeated by North Macedonia in the playoffs.

Antonio out wide

With a new out-and-out number nine heading to the London Stadium, Michail Antonio might have to reinvent himself yet again to remain a constant presence in the West Ham side.

Scamacca’s high transfer fee should demand that he plays regularly in his favoured position and that could open up the chance for the Jamaican to return to the wing where he can be so deadly.

Jarrod Bowen has the right-hand side on lockdown but the left flank is very much up for grabs and Antonio’s strength and pace combined may well be the secret weapon David Moyes needs to unlock that extra five per cent that his side lacked last season.

Playing against much less physical full-backs rather than the bulky centre-halves of the Premier League should allow him to bully his opposite number once again and if he finds his goal-scoring boots too, West Ham could have the most potent front three in the entire division.
