West Ham United: Thiago Silva reacts to Kurt Zouma after what he did last night

Thiago Silva has reacted to Kurt Zouma’s social media post after the defender starred in a 1-1 draw between West Ham and Tottenham on Tuesday (2 April).

Despite the Hammers’ slow start to the match, conceding to Brennan Johnson after just five minutes, the Frenchman headed David Moyes’ side back onto level terms at the London Stadium.

Zouma has faced his fair share of criticism this season, with only Luton Town, Burnley and Sheffield United conceding more goals, but his performance against a strong Spurs side was exemplary.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday (3 April), the 29-year-old shared his celebration photos, as well as his Player of the Match award, to which Silva commented: “Zou”, clearly a nickname from his Chelsea days.

Jarrod Bowen also commented on the post, reacting with handshake and heart emojis.

Kurt Zouma impresses in West Ham United v Tottenham

It has been a difficult second half of the season for many at West Ham, with Moyes and Zouma seemingly taking much of the brunt of criticism towards the club.

Pressure has been mounting on the manager’s shoulders, especially after the eight-match run without a victory at the start of 2024, which was only ended by a 4-2 win over Brentford at the end of February.

Though many have targeted Moyes’ defensive style of football for many of the problems at the London Stadium, Zouma’s performances in recent weeks have certainly not helped the situation.

However, his display against a very frightening Ange Postecoglou team will be a hugely positive sign as the Hammers head into the end-of-season run-in with the chance to still finish in the top-six spots.

Just three points behind Manchester United, West Ham will be confident they can rediscover their previous form from earlier in the season, with some very difficult matches against Liverpool and Manchester City still to come.

The Europa League will also be a significant target this campaign, with Bayer Leverkusen standing in the way of West Ham and a semi-final spot in the competition.
