West Ham United target James Ward-Prowse told he can leave Southampton amid Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur interest

Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse is reportedly on the transfer radar of West Ham, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle this summer.

According to talkSPORT, the English midfielder has been told he can leave St Mary’s at the end of the season if the club gets relegated.

The Saints currently are rooted at the bottom of the Premier League table and are expected to go down unless they can dramatically turn around their fortunes.

Via Twitter, talkSPORT wrote, “James Ward-Prowse has been told he can leave Southampton if they go down.
Ward-Prowse has previously attracted interest from Tottenham and West Ham and also has admirers at Newcastle.”

Right move?

Declan Rice is on his way out and has been subject to interest from a number of clubs in the Premier League as well as abroad.

It’ll be a real miracle if he stays as clubs will offer him guaranteed playing time and Champions League football if he moves.

While Ward-Prowse is not a like-for-like Rice replacement, he could be signed along with another quality sitting midfielder to form a new-look double pivot.

He could also play with Lucas Paqueta playing in his preferred number eight position and another midfielder could be signed to make it a midfield three.

David Moyes’ ideas at the club are archaic and the time has arrived for a new manager to take over the reins.

Beating Spurs and Newcastle to his services may be difficult as both can offer significantly higher wages and European football with one of the two even likely to qualify for the Champions League.
