West Ham United: talkSPORT pundit slams ‘madness’ after David Moyes sack decision made
David Moyes is a “brilliant” manager and the idea of him getting sacked as West Ham United manager is “madness”, according to Tom Skinner.
On talkSPORT (7 September), the social media personality and pundit gushed about the impact the Scotsman has had in Stratford to Alan Brazil, pointing to the Europa Conference League victory and his success in “levelling out” the Hammers after a poor start last season.
Moyes faced plenty of scrutiny right until the end of the season, but his position in the London Stadium dugout looks secure for now after his unbeaten start in the Premier League.

Speaking live on talkSPORT, the former Apprentice contestant said: “I think it’s madness. I love David Moyes, I think he’s brilliant. Look at what he’s done for us, you know what I mean?
“We didn’t have the greatest start to the season, but he levelled the club out, we’re champions of Europe! I’m buzzing, West Ham are on fire!”
“He’s brilliant for West Ham and I love what he’s doing there at the minute.”
Truth
The West Ham hierarchy were eyeing up a sacking for Moyes just days before the Conference League final, with The Guardian claiming (2 June) a defeat in Prague would be the final nail in his Hammers career, again.
But Skinner is correct in his view of Moyes as the experienced veteran has brought more success to Stratford than most fans would even be able to remember.

Regular European football was on in the Hammers’ remit before Moyes returned for his second stint in charge. In fact, Moyes’ reappointment was met with significant outcry from the London Stadium faithful, and at the time that anger seemed justified.
Fast forward four years and the Irons are European champions on an unbeaten run in the Premier League, having sold a player largely developed by Moyes for a (then) British record fee, all before revolutionising their midfield with elite-level recruits.
Skinner is well within his rights to be “buzzing”, and Moyes has facilitated an era in Stratford that most other fans will look at with envy. However, it feels that his first slip-up could cost him his job.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers’ battle for the “next Neymar” may have come to an unfortunate end.
