West Ham United summer target Moussa Dembele wanted by Everton and Aston Villa

Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, who was on the radar of West Ham in the summer, is now reportedly wanted by Everton and Aston Villa.

According to Foot Mercato [19 January], the Hammers even enquired about him, but their approach was turned down as Lyon did not want a sale.

However, he now has just six more months left on his deal and will leave for free if he doesn’t sign a new deal before June.

Rekindled interest?

The Hammers certainly need to sign another striker this month and Dembele may not be the worst idea in the world.

Villa and Everton are both teams around West Ham in the Premier League and the Frenchman would certainly strengthen their playing XIs.

While Danny Ings has been signed, there are talks about the Hammers signing another striker with Michail Antonio is expected to leave.

Wolves are believed to be keen on signing the Jamaican and Moyes may ask the club to finally cash in on him.

Dembele’s deal runs out at the end of the season, so there’s a chance that West Ham may look to secure his services on a free transfer.

If they are to rekindle their interest, they need to do it as soon as possible as they will probably miss out on him if one of Villa and Everton decide to act and open talks over a move in January.
