West Ham suffer fresh injury blow as defender misses Crystal Palace friendly – report

West Ham United defender Arthur Masuaku was the latest defender to pick up a blow after missing the friendly against Crystal Palace, according to Claret and Hugh.

The reliable club source confirmed that Angelo Ogbonna is another player who hasn’t been able to train properly since the return to action.

ExWHUemployee revealed on his personal Twitter account that the Hammers beat their London rivals 2-1 on Saturday, thanks to goals from Sebastien Haller and Jeremy Ngakia.

Claret and Hugh have reported that despite scoring against Queens Park Rangers last week, Masuaku was struggling for fitness over the weekend.

The Hammers welcome Wolves to the London Stadium in their first game back and could be without a couple of defenders.

It may not be too much of a problem though, with the previously injured Arron Cresswell playing both friendlies this week despite his recent problems.

David Moyes won’t be stressing too much, as Cresswell was his preferred left-back before the enforced break in the Premier League.

Masuaku has been a strong option off the bench though due to his versatility and ability to move forward on to the left-hand side of midfield.

Defensively, Masuaku has completed more tackles per game according to WhoScored and averages significantly more dribbles but despite that, it was most likely always going to be Cresswell starting against Wolves – this all but confirms that.
